1:200 Sequentials - Draft
I'm a bit slow getting these on here but these are my 1:200 draft sequential. Please ignore the colour as its all from my sketch up model and not representative of how the final images look at all, just really there for me to distinguish between surfaces and elements.
The end is in sight...
So yesterday was our last lesson with Jamie pre final crit pin up, armed with a list as long as your arm (maybe longer!) it's now a case of just getting stuff done. The 2 week countdown clock is well and truly ticking! I fear a bumpy ride ahead...

Water jets - in or out...
Precedent images from Bordeaux Riverfront (top), and Granary Square, Kings cross. Both look pretty nice I think, but is Tunbridge Wells ready for it?? Jamie thinks not...
1:200 Design Freeze
So this week marks the point at which we have reached a design freeze in the 1:200 phase, for most anyway! For me, I feel like I have a lot of resolving still to go on my plan to get the design right before I can stop playing around with it. Just as I think it's moving in the right direction I seem to take another step back. In general I'm fairly happy with the shapes and the linking circulation, but I seem to be lacking content for the spaces, with my main concern being athe park ending up with a lot of bleak empty open space. Not ideal.
Introduce some water jets, and areas for water to collect and form mirror pools, yesterday morning was a great idea, buy yesterday afternoon what was I thinking!...
This week has to be the week I get my plan into a position I am 100% (well at least 90 something %) happy with (make it 80 something)...
We're also producing lighting and drainage overlays this week, but clearly I need everything resolved and where I want it to be so that the new overlays make sense. I feel a couple of late nights coming on...

Zooming in - 1:200
So moving on from the 1:500 masterplans we are now concentrating on a smaller area of the site, zooming in to a 1:200 scale to pick up on and refine some of the detail. At 1:200 a lot more of the detail of the site is visible and so needs to be worked through and resolved. We set about producing a number of overlays of the 1:200 chosen area, these overlays are then analyse to see what of the 1:500 detail works, and which bits might need a bit of adapting.

Masterplan (Part Site)
My final masterplan document covers only part of the site. This is to allow for the extra space the site now fills with the removal of the ugly AXA building to the North. The masterplan has also been rotated by 90 degrees for a better fit on the page.
Masterplan (Full Site)
Below is my submitted Masterplan for the entire Calverley Grounds site, re-named Burton Park after Decimus himself.
The Hanging... feels like the rope is getting tighter...
After working through the night, literally through the night (into bed at 05:59 up at 06:30), last Sunday/Monday to get everything completed, then driving all the way to Greenwich, our scheduled hanging was cancelled due to the weather! I set my fastest time to Uni, then beat it on the way back! Must have been worse everywhere else...
After that I refused to let myself keep going back over the drawings and moved on to the A3 Document. This morning the re-scheduled hanging is taking place, and my work is up and being marked as I type. Fingers crossed...
There are areas I know need work on and I'm sure Jamie will pick up on them too, but hopefully it's all good enough.
